Who am I?

This week I did an interesting test called FASCINATION ADVANTAGE ASSESSMENTThis is an easy test with only 28 questions. If you have time, I highly recommend you take it.

Try it, and maybe you can find out who you really are.

I always like doing such kind of personality assessments. So, when the first time I heard this assessment, I’m excited. Yeah, there’s one more chance I can know who I am! When I was doing this assessment, I kept asking myself questions: “Oh, is that true? Am I behavior like this? Do you think you did this? Are you sure? …” That may sound funny, but I guess everyone will ask themselves questions when taking assessment.

People never stop exploring their inner world. But I do love the explore experience indeed. The more I know about myself, the better I can get along with myself.

So, the Fascination Advantage Assessment told me that my archetype is The Mediator. And the three adjectives that describe how the world see me are steadfast, composed and by-the-book. My primary advantage is alert and my secondary advantage is trust. My dormant advantage is innovation.

I have to say that the result is pretty close to the one who I know about myself. I’m really a detail-orientated person. When doing projects, I will check it several times to make sure every detail is right. When making slides, I can adjust the images once and once again to let them look better. Details are important to everyone. Detail can determine your success or failure. The other thing I want to say is about the to-do list. In fact, the day before I took the assessment, I just made my to-do list for the rest of the year. When I saw the report said, “You relish the act of crossing items off your to-do list (and there’s always a to-do list!)”, I want to say that’s quite accurate!!!

But what I’m not agree with is about the innovation. To be honest, although I’m not a creative person, I really love the feelings to innovate. I love new ideas which can inspire me and other people. Life with innovation is more colorful. That kind of life can make me feel more energetic. I don’t think it’s my most exhausting form of communication. And I always try my best to be creative. I like challenging myself. And I live with my sister who is an artist. I think artist may be the most creative person in the world. I love communicating with my sister. I can learn a lot from our conversation.

So, if you ask me to give an evaluation about this assessment, I think I can give it 80% of accuracy. I agree with most of the analysis, although there are a little part I’m not agree with. I admit that I’m like a mediator. It’s true. I think this is also related to the culture background I grow up. In China, we have Confucius and Laozi, which are two famous philosophers in the Spring and Autumn Period. I’m deeply influenced by their philosophy. So, I think that’s why my personality is like a mediator.

I think personal fascination is vital to marketers. As a marketer, you must have the fascination to do marketing plans, to lead teams and to let your customers love your products. If you can know yourself better, it will be easier for you to make plans. And you can improve yourself more specifically. Also, teamwork is necessary for marketers. One team should have different archetypes of people so you can make up with each other and solve more problems. What’s more important I think is to know the archetypes of your customers. There is an old saying in China: “If you know yourself and your enemy, you’ll never lose a battle.” Of course, customers are not our enemies. They are our friends. The idea is just the same. If we can know them better, we can make better marketing plan for them.
